A brief overview of US aggression and intervention in Latin America, from the toppling of the democratically elected government of Jacobo Arbenz in Guatemala en 1954 to current efforts by Washington to destabilize and overthrow the Bolivarian Revolution in Venezuela.

History of US aggression in Latin America

Empire Files: Abby Martin Meets the Venezuelan Opposition

Empire Files: Head of Venezuela National Guard on Insurgency & US Threats

Use of force by Venezuela's Bolivarian National Guard has become a regular sight in corporate media, and those actions are used by foreign powers as justification for intervention.

With very real possibilities of another US-backed coup, Abby Martin interviews the head of Venezuela's Armed Forces and Minister of Defense, General Padrino López. They discuss the National Guard's control of food and medicine, condemnations over use of force, and the threat of US military intervention.

Chapter I: Amendments

Article 340: The purpose of an amendment is to add to or modify one or more articles of the Constitution, without altering the fundamental structure of the same.

Article 341: The procedure for adopting amendments to the Constitution shall be as follows:

(1) The initiative may emanate from 15% of the citizens registered with the Civil and Electoral Registry, from 39% of the members of the National Assembly or from the President of the Republic, sitting with the Cabinet of Ministers.

AGAIN, I posted this for an Informational purpose: ...

Better late than never, I say!!

Empire Files: Constituent Assembly Dictatorship or Democracy in Venezuela?

On July 30th, Venezuelans will elect a people's body called the
"Constituent Assembly" comprised of hundreds of representatives across the country with the power to redraft the constitution

U.S. politicians, press and opposition in Venezuela are calling the process a "coup" that should be boycotted by all.

Abby Martin addresses the criticisms with Head of the Presidential Commission to oversee the Constituent Assembly process, Elias Jaua,
speaks to supporters and participants of the Assembly,
interviews historian Chris Gilbert and explains what is at stake in Venezuela if the social programs instated under Chavez are terminated by the opposition.

Trump said if the July 30 referendum is allowed to take place, there will be "strong and swift economic actions" taken against Venezuela.

Well, I`m shocked!! (sarcasm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Trump issues ultimatum to Venezuelan leadership

This video documentary by Naomi Klein was made BACK IN 2009, but I do find to be very telling for what is happening TODAY in particularly Venezuela:

The Shock Doctrine [ GLOBALISM, TERROR ]

In THE SHOCK DOCTRINE, Naomi Klein explodes the myth that the global free market triumphed democratically. Exposing the thinking, the money trail and the puppet strings behind the world-changing crises and wars of the last four decades, The Shock Doctrine is the gripping story of how America’s “free market” policies have come to dominate the world-- through the exploitation of disaster-shocked people and countries.

Eliminate water from NAFTA
Please go-to the ABOVE LINK to read their 'FACT SHEETS' on the NAFTA agreement, plus there are simply MORE (Other resources) at that LINK...THANKS!!

NAFTA and Water

Water is defined as a “tradeable good,” “service” and “investment” in NAFTA.

As a tradeable good, NAFTA dramatically limits the federal government’s ability to stop provinces from selling water. If a provincial government decides to sell water to parched U.S. states, the federal government would be powerless to turn off the tap. And NAFTA’s proportionality clause would mean the province couldn’t cut back on the amount of water it was sending to the U.S. even in times of drought.

Removing water as a “service” would help protect water as an essential public service. When services are provided by private corporations, NAFTA provisions limit the involvement of the public sector. NAFTA’s negative list approach means that unless a service is specifically exempted, it must be opened up to the private sector. Examples around the world have shown the impacts privatization has on water services, including increased rates, reduced accessibility and poorer quality.

Removing water as an “investment” and excluding NAFTA’s ISDS provisions would make it much harder for foreign corporations to use trade treaties to fight domestic or international rules that protect water. Canada has already been sued for millions of dollars for laws protecting water.

Take action!

Call on Prime Minister Trudeau and the Canadian government to strengthen water protections in NAFTA and stop companies from profiting from water (Trudeau must stand up to Trump during NAFTA talks ):

Water must be removed as a tradeable good, service or investment in any renegotiated NAFTA deal. Instead, it should be protected as a human right, available to people and communities who need it.

Jeremy Corbyn | Campaigning in Chingford and Woodford Green

Published on Jul 10, 2017

Iain Duncan Smith MP, an architect of the Conservatives’ austerity, once had a "safe Tory seat" but we (Labour) turned it into a marginal at the General Election.

And also there is this article from the Canary.com:

Theresa May has received some bad news about her DUP deal. It’s being put to the ultimate test
By Tracy Keeling. On July 9th, 2017 In the category of UK

Theresa May’s government is on course to have to defend its Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) deal in court: http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/gerry-adams-dup-deal-northern-ireland-peace-agreement-sinn-fein-leader-stormont-ira-loyalists-power-a7808866.html Because Ciaran McClean from Northern Ireland is launching a legal challenge against it on the grounds that the deal threatens the Good Friday Agreement. And he argues it’s in breach of the Bribery Act.

May’s decision to prop up her weakened no-majority government with a £1.5bn deal with the DUP – including £1bn of new money – has received heavy criticism. Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon called it a “grubby, shameless” deal. While Welsh First Minister Carwyn Jones said it was a “straight bung”. Labour’s Dennis Skinner has also called the arrangement a “protection racket”.
Now a Green Party member, who unsuccessfully stood for the party in the June election, has decided to bring a legal challenge against it. McClean said:

I have spent most of my life campaigning for peace in Northern Ireland. The deal concluded between the government and the DUP threatens everything we’ve worked so hard for and I’m bringing this case to ensure the government is held to account.

The mental health worker is attempting to crowdfund: https://www.crowdjustice.com/case/challenge-dup-deal/ the legal action. The campaign has raised over £18,000 at the time of writing. Solicitor David Greene is taking up the case. The partner at Edwin Coe solicitors previously represented Deir Tozetti Dos Santos, one of the successful lead claimants in the Article 50 challenge in the Supreme Court. On his crowdfunding page, McClean said of the deal:

It’s straight bribery – money for votes.
My claim is that as a citizen I expect my Government to honour its obligations under the Good Friday Agreement and not to bribe others with money so that it can stay in power.

Legal test

McClean’s legal team plans to issue high court proceedings in the coming week.
It has already had contact with the government over the matter. But McClean says the government’s response failed to address the “fundamental issues behind this corrupt deal”.

A former government lawyer and Tory MP, Alberto Costa, claims the deal was “transparent and lawful” and that the bribery accusation is “spurious”. He also added that it was “vexatious”.

And the challenge is no doubt “vexatious” for the Tory Party. Numerous people have characterised the deal as a bribe. And over 750,000 members of the public signed a petition on the controversial move, which described it as a “disgusting, desperate attempt to stay in power”. Now the courts will get to determine whether the deal is above board by their specific standards.

But to use a favoured phrase of Tory politicians: “if you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear ”. And the government insists the deal isn’t a cash-for-votes bribe. So it can just sit back, calmly as our democratic, rule of law system does its work.

Jeremy Corbyn’s Labour Party has just set a new record. And it’s one that is heartening news for the Labour leader, but disastrous for PM Theresa May.

Who needs Blair?

YouGov has released [pdf]:
https://d25d2506sfb94s.cloudfront.net/cumulus_uploads/document/pk6fh24cmh/TimesResults_170706_VotingIntention_W.pdf its latest Westminster voting intention polling. And if you trust polls, it’s very good news for Labour. In line with the trend: https://www.thecanary.co/2017/06/23/corbyn-wins-new-victory-one-theresa-may-dreading-video/ since the general election on 8 June, Labour is ahead. But the party under Corbyn has now set a new record; as the polling company has put Labour on 46% – its highest ever scoring in a YouGov poll.

This now puts Labour 8% clear of the Tories (38%)...

Labour is in permanent campaign mode and we will be fighting every day until we form the next government.

Jeremy Corbyn | Campaigning in Hastings and Rye

Published on Jul 7, 2017

(Labour) took (their) campaign to the constituency of Amber Rudd, the Conservatives’ Home Secretary.

Once a “safe Tory seat”, now a marginal which she won by just 346 votes, (Labour) will win Hastings and Rye at the next election.

Plus, Tariq Ali: www.bing.com/search?q=Who+is+Tariq+Ali%3...ersationid=&pc=EUPP_ talks to Andrew Murray, Senior Advisor to Jeremy Corbyn’s Election Campaign, about the success of the campaign which saw the public rallying around Corbyn and great enthusiasm for the Labour Party’s Manifesto. The Tory campaign, on the other hand, was a car crash.

A manifesto for a better, fairer Britain.
